Safe passing: if not Austin, then where?

Apparently, and I do hope this is just an abundance of caution, Austin’s safe-passing ordinance (basically a citywide version of the safe-passing bill vetoed in the eleventh hour by Governor Perry) is in danger.  Find out what you can do, courtesy of Austin on Two Wheels.

Oh, and for the record, evidently a texting-while-driving ban is also wrapped up in the same language.  It’d drive me insane if safe-passing died as collateral damage from that.

I’d kinda expect this sort of reaction to a cycling ordinance (as described on A2W) in, say, Dallas.  Not here.  Hope for the best, but contingency plan for disappointment.
